| The intention of The Hertfordshire Interpreters and Translators Association (THITA) is to provide interpreting and translation services to local health and social services, the police, county and Magistrates courts, voluntary organisations and the private sector.
Our Aims
- To provide mutual support to organisations and individuals in the field of community interpreting and translation
- To enhance the professional status of community interpreters and translators
- To facilitate education, communication and understanding
- To promote good practice and work towards achieving equality in the provision of and access to services to minority linguistic communities

Our Objectives
- To create a directory of community interpreters and translators together with details of link workers, advocates, printers, calligraphers, typesetters and proofreaders providing services in community languages
- To develop codes of conduct for community interpreters and translators and for users of such services
- To establish and develop network links and contacts
- To establish an information and resource base
- To produce newsletters and work through other media to provide information
- To promote THITA, its aims and objectives
- To develop and run training activities
- To encourage social activities for members
- To arrange fundraising activities for THITA
