Assessment Dates for Community Level 3 and Diploma in Public Services Interpreting
***Places Still Available***
Throughout the year we try to organise a selection of workshops, induction programmes and training courses for both our interpreters, service users, community groups and local businesses as we strive to establish and develop strategies to ensure access and understanding of services and facilities available to all in the community.
This is also good opportunity for those who would like to become an interpreter within the public and private sector.
Are you bilingual? Would you like to train as an interpreter?
At THITA we run two Interpreting Courses:
The COMMUNITY INTERPRETING (C.I.) course is for advanced speakers of English AND native or near-native speakers of another language. Students of this course will build a solid foundation in interpreting techniques and acquire a thorough understanding of the public services in the UK. The course leads to a nationally recognized Certificate issued by the OCN, which will open the doors to a freelance interpreting practice in the public sector.
The DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC SERVICE INTERPRETING (D.P.S.I.) course is a degree level specialization. It is open both to suitable new students and to already experienced practitioners who wish to acquire a deeper knowledge of the public services while mastering the most advanced techniques of interpreting and learning to manage the communication process between non-English speakers and professionals in the Medical, Legal, and Local Government field. This course prepares students to sit the Institute of Linguists exams, and enables successful candidates to apply for Membership of the National Register of Public Service Interpreters.
Our experienced team of Lecturers and Language Tutors will guide you and support you step-by-step throughout the academic year, making your learning experience a truly significant milestone in your journey to become a professional interpreter, or – if you are already practicing – an indispensable opportunity to fine-tune your skills and achieve the qualification that you need.

Session A: Wednesday 25th August 2010 11am until 1pm
Session B: Tuesday 31st August 2010 5pm until 7pm
